The Challenge

Disney needed assistance in design and development of an exhibit for The Lion King to showcase and tell the story of how the costumes were designed and created for the theatrical production on Broadway. Programs in the past for such projects were proving to be extremely expensive and not very durable. Winston was challenged with making a more efficient program that could fit within their budget parameters and be durable enough to travel to numerous destinations over an extended period of time.

The Solution

Winston’s creative team developed a strategy plan that met the strenuous conditions placed on the traveling exhibit while celebrating the beauty and story of the Lion King displays. The design incorporated a moveable wall and platform exhibit that was easy to pack for shipping, allowing the costumes, wood forms and maquettes to be moved without damage. The exhibit traveled from multiple locations over the span of 5 years including the Time Warner Center in New York and The Mandalay Bay Resort and Hotel in Las Vegas.
